"For an Italian boy from New Jersey, weaned on his mother's pasta and homemade sauces, reviewing an Italian restaurant presents an interesting question--what would Mama think? In the case of Pernicano's, the answer is simple. Mama would hate it--the food's too good. No Italian mother wants to hear her son rave about someone else's cooking. A phenomenal marinara sauce... sweet, mild and loaded with chunks of fresh tomatoes. The house special, Pepper Chicken, which is a half chicken seasoned and baked in its own sauce... was superb--so tender and juicy that the meat slid off the bone. Tortellini Quattro Formaggi, which is tortellini filled with chicken and proscuitto, topped with a rich sauce consisting of four cheeses was ecstasy on a plate."
